Redemption is not seen in this story through heroic exploits or even grand miracles of the judges who deliver Israel from a physical oppressor. rather, in the dark days of disobedience during the time of Judges we see that it is God’s hand who saves and rewards the faithfulness and kindness of individuals in Ruth’s narrative. The hesed kindness of Boaz, Ruth, and Naomi lay the foundation for the history of salvation that will extend beyond the borders of Geography and time itself and give voice to hope.
